What was the name of the kid that stole a tug from the tug port and pulled Diodon away from the pier...she had no engines and only holes topside where they had been...they did not know whether to court marshall him or give him a medal.....I saw it all

Chief McCurry 1 of the 9 that put Volador to sea that day with Ltg Pistotnik as our officer in charge Chief Strom at the sticks and me at the helm. Rainey and Arnold got a medal for throwing off # 1 forward while acytelene and oxygen tanks were blowing up on the pier.

Well there has to be some of that crew alive and well..

Rainey the 2nd class tm along with Arnold EN2 were the ones that did the deed of throwing off #1 night rider...they invited me to go along but I chickened out and said I'll stay here and watch.

Rainey now is the mayor of truth and consequences new mexico...I talked to him on the phone and reminded him of what he did....heheheh  a great pleasure...cause I did it out of the blue and he did not know who I was or where I was....he just knew I had been there cause I described what happened blow of blow.....at the time I was RM2(SS) and in charge of the SOAP team overhauling Volador SS490 in commission in reserve....best job I've ever had....Chrome torpedo doors, formica walls in the FB and AFB with an inlaid deck in the radio room

NYEU.....The admiral that inspected us after all was over was impressed.... but Dorenkamp, who later became a vice admiral, wouldn't admit who did the comshaw.....but the next thing I knew I was transferred to Hawaii and gave a sub SS390 USS Plaice to Brazil and then on to the Admiral's staff at subpac...Great days...never to be forgotten...

a bubblehead...like you
