Jim,

Don't know if you saw this one. It was on www.submarinesailor.com  BBS.

Shipmate was a DIODON crew at one time.

Subject: SVWWII President stricken at Convention
Message: At the conclusion of the SVWWII convention in Orlando last week, President LaVerne Speed was stricken with a severe heart attack, passed out and was rushed to a local hospital.

After stablizing him, the hospital medevac'd him to a more specialized hospital CCU in Miami.

His prognosis is uncertain, according to my source who was at the convention.

Prayers for his recovery are in order.

Also a member of USSVI Base 51 in Las Vegas, Vern qualified aboard USS Muskallunge (SS 262) as at TM3 in 1944, and also served aboard Carp, Cusk, Medregal, Kracken, Baya and Diodon.

If anyone else has more current information, please post it here. on www.submarinesailor.com  BBS
