Came aboard in San Diego as an ETSN. Qualified while in Hunters Point in Mar 55. Did the Westpac cruise in 56-57. Discharged while back in Hunters Point in Aug 57 as an ET1(SS).

I've pictures for Bob Page, Sweet Pea, James Brown and Charles Aliniva. I'll try to contact you.

Good to see a web site for Diodon.

Subject: about your site

Dear Jim,

Glenn Booth put me on to your Diodon site. You've done a great job with it.

I served on the Dirty "D" from Dec '54 to Aug '57.

Qualified 15 Mar '55 as an ETSN, and made ET1(SS) in one cruise.

Lived in Sunnyvale for 25 years - just off Ticonderoga.  Was an electrical engineer for Litton Systems and later Argo Systems.  Retired and moved to northern Minnesota in '93.

Became a Ham a few years ago. KB0YUO (that's a zero after KB).  Am a General now but am going for my Amateur Extra this summer.

Am presently writing about Diodon's '56-'57 Westpac cruise and have scanned some photos into the text. I have a nice broadside of the Diodon with Hunters Point in the back ground taken after our shipyard overhaul in '55.

Skippers were REM Conwell, P.J. Hahhifin and LO Smith.

Got a great picture taken in Sagami Wan (Tokyo Bay) with the Florikan's rescue bell on our forward hatch while we are on the surface. Long story there.

Let me know if I can be of any help.

Regards, Don Messner
