Jim...LOVED the pictures. wish I had some to send
along...will continue looking.
I was Lorms, CS2 (SS) August 1967. Have just had my quals sheet, patch and some other memorabilia framed along with a set of the recent Submarine stamps.
Mike
Lanois, was the torpedoman artist. Click Thumbnail below for some
memories of him. It should open up to a larger image in a new
window.
Rich Becker was the blond officer on deck in one of your photos...other officer there was ensign Harry Sells. Remember he went to Reno and got married, while we were at Mare Island. He was confined to the barge for a month...tough on a newly-wed.
Pat Gavaghan is now deceased, I guess a year or so after we got out. I remember reading about it in the
Sub Vets Magazine. Dropped his wife a note, he lived in Philly then. Never did hear how he died.
Buzzy Bourque, and Dave Phillips CS1 and another cook named ? Fernandez. Boy, could he bake doughnuts...floated off the plate.
Pappy Graham, another electrician, I believe Brian noted a
MacPherson...his name was Dave.
Cuccinata (sp) was one of the corpsmen.
Swedbloom got the nickname of Sweetblossom from his no shower gig.
More, as I have time and can remember.
